After some introspection and reevaluation of how this year went, we all probably have a vague idea of how we want to improve ourselves in the upcoming year. That’s what New Year’s resolutions are! But the problem with keeping our New Year’s resolutions is how unrealistic and complicated they often are. So ditch the ‘get a six-pack by summer’ resolution and start off with one of these instead.

The Gym is Not Your Only Option

For those of us who want to be a little healthier in the upcoming year, but don’t have the necessary resources or dedication to stick to a fitness plan, start by making small changes to your routine. Maybe take the stairs back to your Kapi apartment instead of the elevator. If you have a sugary snack every day, why not switch it out with a granola bar or some fruit instead? Drink more water and get up to stretch more often so that you’re not sitting for hours at a time. Once you’ve built up some confidence in your ability to follow through on making healthy lifestyle changes, then you can start trying to commit to more ambitious endeavors. But if you still think the gym is the best option for you, you can use your apartment’s community gym (it’s always free).




Be nice (to yourself)

If your New Year’s resolution is to take better care of yourself, that is to indulge in some self-care, go ahead and treat yourself to a break when you need it. Trendy cafes and restaurants are cool, but if face masks and Netflix while you are cozied up in your Kapi apartment are more of your style, there’s no one out there to stop you. 👌👌👌



Work on That Next Level You

It’s so easy to wish and want to become something more. Have you ever thought, “I wish I could talk to more people” or “I wish I didn’t procrastinate so much”? Instead of forcing yourself to start attending social functions or getting a planner you’ll forget about after March, work on being more confident in yourself and building a more conscientious work ethic. Take credit for your achievements and become your best advocate! Arrive to work or class earlier than you normally would and organize your space! Start off the new year with a new (next level) you!


Cook More

Sometimes, it’s hard to check your bank statements after you realized you’ve eaten take out for the past week. Put to use your Kapi apartment kitchen and the kitchen utensils Kapi provided and churn out some homemade food! Get fancy and invest in a cookbook of some recipes of your favorite eats! Or wing it and see what’s out there on the world wide web! Afterwards, maybe hit up the supermarket and get some veggies. 😂



Vow to do something awesome!

Many of us look back on the concluding year and think, ‘man, it would’ve been so cool if I did A, B, and C!” Maybe there was a trip or party you skipped out on that now you probably wish you hadn’t. Or an opportunity you could’ve taken, but you were too afraid of failing. In that case, step outside your comfort zone, even just for a bit! Discover something new about yourself that you never knew was there before and give yourself new experiences to cherish! It can just be a one-time thing, but at least you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that this time, you did it!


Take the time to relax and think about what you want for yourself in 2018! If you put your mind to it, you can definitely make it a year to remember! Happy Holidays!
