It’s hard to keep focus sometimes when you have so many other things to do besides studying for midterms. Stay on track with some of these tips.
Do Something Productive
Instead of logging on to your Netflix during your midterm study break, do something that uses your brain. The reason why it’s so hard to refocus after a Netflix episode study break is that watching TV doesn’t do much to stimulate your brain as much as studying does. So the next time you take your 20-minute Youtube or Netflix binge breaks, read or cook something instead. You could also get up and walk around a bit (it’ll do wonders for your joints) or work out for a while at the Kapi community gym. You’ll find that you’ll feel more refreshed and that getting back on that grind won’t feel like a chore.
Prep your meals for the day so you know you’ll have something to eat when you need it. It doesn’t have to be fancy and it won’t take much time. You won’t be meal prepping for the week. (LOL). Wash some fruit and put it in the fridge so you can have a study snack on hand. Save some time on making lunch by cutting your vegetables beforehand and/or defrosting your meat before you start studying for midterms. This way, you save yourself the stress of trying to decide what you want to eat (and if you want to eat at all) because you’ve already (technically) started cooking.
A lot of people tend to procrastinate on their studies by starting an impromptu cleaning spree. That’s great for your Kapi Apartment! But it’s not so great for you. Take a 30-minute break to do your dishes and clean your stove and counters, then get back on your exam prep for an hour or so. Do your reading while you’re waiting for your laundry to wash and dry. The key here is to clean incrementally so that at the end of the day, you feel like you got enough studying in and you can go to sleep with your Kapi apartment all tidied up!
Schedule Your Recharge Time
School, work, study, sleep. The cycle repeats over and over again. It’s hard to keep doing what you do when your day wears you down. That’s why you should try to reserve at least an hour for yourself. An hour for you to nap, call your friends/parents, water your plants, etc. Set a timer and wind down for a bit.
Start studying for midterms early because you don’t want to find yourself cramming the night before the test. The key to a relaxing study session to pace yourself (and making sure you’re understanding all the material) Start off the quarter strong! Good vibes all around!
