If cleaning isn’t your favorite activity in the world, here’s to hoping that these hacks make your life easier. And after you’re done, relax and chill in your clean apartment because you deserve it!
That space between your stove and your countertop
All that gunk that somehow gets pushed into the crevice between your stove and countertop is gross and hard to clean. Damp a thin cloth in water with some cleaner sprayed on it. Wrap it around a butter knife and secure it with small rubber bands. Now stick it in that gap and clean out the old food crumbs and oil spillage that somehow managed get in there.
You gotta put in some elbow grease
Got a nasty ring of toilet rust and your toilet brush isn’t cutting it anymore? No worries! Get a pumice stone and put on your cleaning gloves because you’re gonna scrub that toilet bowl clean! It’s not the most relaxing way to clean a toilet, but it’s definitely faster than your normal toilet brush. Afterwards, if you want to keep it clean longer, invest in a hanging toilet bowl refresher to prevent build ups!
Lint roll those surfaces!
To minimize the amount of surface area you have to dust, use a lint roller. Use it to pick up lint on flat surfaces or on hard to clean surfaces like lamp shades and window screens.
Grease splatters build up over time on your wall. If you’re not too happy looking at the off-white, sort of yellow splotches near your cooking space, try this out. Make a mixture of warm water and baking soda. All you need is dish towel or something clean to wipe with. Dunk that sucker in there and wring it out gently. Scrub. Or if you’re having a hard time of cleaning because those splotches have been there so long, get a spritzer bottle, load it up with distilled vinegar and spritz on the splotches. Scrub.
If you’re prepared to bring your whole arsenal of cleaning supplies just to clean your crusty oven, don’t. You really don’t need to. Go to your nearest store and pick up some fume-free oven cleaner, sprinkle that good stuff in your oven, and go to sleep (please do). All you have to do is remember that you have to wipe it down in the morning, but that shouldn’t be too hard to do!
It feels nice to spruce up your living area every once in a while, doesn’t it? If you don’t have time to go on a major spree (or you simply don’t feel like you want to), do one chore a day, think of it like a video game quest!
