You might have already heard these words of wisdom before, but it doesn’t hurt to hear them again. School is coming up soon. Are you ready?
- You might think otherwise, but all the change under your couches, your beds, in your car cup holders adds up. Especially the pennies. Start a change jar and save up your excess change to use once it reaches a decent amount. You’ll be keeping your space clear and saving up some money while you’re at it!
- Some people know how to bring their A-game and honestly, mad respect. But make sure you know when to step back and take a deep breath and recharge yourself when you need it. Don’t run yourself into the ground because that’s not good for you in the long run! Sleep when you need to! Eat when you need to! Get some company together and just wind down together when you need to!
- Drink water. It’s getting weirdly hot lately, so stay hydrated to keep cool. But even when it’s not hot, you should keep hydrated for variety of reasons including better cognitive functioning (less headaches), clearer skin, and the prevention of illness. Try to drink about eight 8oz glasses of water a day (that’s the minimum amount for consumption) and see how much better you’ll feel as you go about your day!
- You probably won’t get yourself featured on a reality cooking show, but you should probably learn how to perfect a few, simple recipes for occasions when you find yourself needing a quick, low budget meal. It doesn’t have to be super fancy. You can look online for recipes for a basic fish stick taco or a ham and grilled cheese sandwich, which will fill you up when you don’t have the time or energy to be cooking yourself a full course meal.
- Can’t seem to focus? Is your procrastination game too strong? Do you keep taking hour long breaks for every 10 minutes of work you get done? If so, you should give the carrot and stick system a try. Set an alarm for the amount of time you want work for and every 20-30 minutes, treat yourself to a S M A L L break. Get a snack. Check to see if you have any new texts or messages. Do some stretches. Whatever you do, just making sure it’s not all-consuming like a nap or netflix binge. Save that stuff for when you’re actually done with what you need to do.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed with school approaching, especially if you’re going to have to make major schedule changes. Plan things out and make sure that you can have enough time for yourself as well. Here’s to a good school year!!!
